Dear Mr. Dale:
In our letter of June 3, 1992, we informed you of the Board's approval
of your Cytolok Cable Connectors but with the approval being restricted
for use with copper conductors only.
This restriction was still in effect, even after your letter of July
29, 1992 and your presentation to the board at its meeting of September
16, 1992, wherein you stated that the conductors in the connectors are
always under constant compression.
However, the Board at this meeting agreed to remove the copper only
restriction, thereby allowing use with aluminum conductors, if a testing
laboratory would conduct an ivestagation and submit a report to this effect.
On April 5, 1993, you submitted a report from a testing laboratory,
I.e. Southern Electric International Inc.., Wherein in the conclusion,
it was stated that "the connector is expected to maintain a spring load
on the conductor through thermal cycles while the connector is in service."
Accordingly, the Board at its meeting of April 15, 1993, after reviewing
the testing report and other pertinent material, agreed to remove the copper
only restriction..
Therefore, your Cytolok Cable Connectors Catalog #CL followed by Suffix
502, 503, 504, 510, 525, 536, 544, 570 or 576 may be followed by Suffix-2
are approved for use in New York city for both copper and aluminum conductors.
I concur in this recommendation. |

Dear Mr.. Missett:
Based on the information provided with reference (a), the Buchanan Cytolok
cable connectors are acceptable for shipboard installations. This is based
on your providing evidence of UL listing as meeting UL 486B, which applies
to both aluminum and copper conductors.
Please ensure future correspondence on this project includes reference
to the USCG project file number P001464. This number will be used to track
all corresponding throughout the review process at the Marine Safety Center
(MSC). Use of this file number will greatly facilitate the ease and accuracy
with which we process you submittal. |

Dear sir:
We have received samples of the above connectors and we understand that
you have approached several line departments of B.C. Hydro demonstrating
these connectors. As you know, in B.C. Hydro's system these connectors
can only be used for a limited number of applications, namely for connecting
secondary conductors to low profile transformer spades as well as to three
phase padmounted transformer pads.
The hole size of all secondary padmounted transformer spades and or
pads are 9/16"(14mm) and the connectors must be fastened with 1/2" (12mm)
bolts and nuts.
The connectors presently used are one and two hole lug connectors which
are also used for other applications throughout B.C. Hydro. For the last
tender we were unable to evaluate the Cytolok connector system. The next
connector tender will be issued July 1996 and by that time our evaluation
of the Cytolok connector and it's application will be completed. |

Dear Mr.. McGrew:
The Specifications for Electrical Installations Committee of Niagara
Mohawk Power Corp.. has reviewed the Cytolok connector information you
provided.
Based on the test results provided by Cytolok and our Meter and Testing
Lab we approve this UL listed connector for use in terminating single conductors
within the meter trough. The connector terminates on the provided studs
using either top or bottom entry of the enclosure. |
